چکیده
GHOSH, RAHUL. Error analysis of Through Reflect Line method for calibrating microwave measurements. (Under the direction of Professor Michael B. Steer) Uncertainty in transmission line based calibration techniques for microwave measurements are studied with the aim of identifying the optimum calibration conditions. Variation in the determined error parameters under certain conditions in Through Reflect Line (TRL) calibration method due to variation in the unknown reflection coefficient are analyzed experimentally and theoretically. It is found that measured uncertainty is minimized when the reflection standard is either a short or an open. The TRL calibration method is compared with the Through-Line (TL) calibration procedure. The major causes of uncertainties inherent in TRL calibration are absent in the TL calibration technique due to the synthesized reflection standard. Evaluating the power densities emitted by GSM1800 and GSM900 BTS antennas isconducted via two methods. Measurements are carried out in half a square meter grids around twoantennas. CST Microwave STUDIO software is employed to estimate the power densities in order fordetailed antenna and tower modeling and simulation of power density. Finally, measurements obtainedfrom computational and experime...
متن کاملAnalysis of Planar Microstrip Circuits Using Three-Dimensional Transmission Line Matrix Method
The frequency-dependent characteristics of microstrip planar circuits have been previously analyzed using several full-wave approaches. All those methods directly give characteristic of the circuits frequency by frequency. Computation time becomes important if these planar circuits have to be studied over a very large bandwidth. The transmission line matrix (TLM) method presented in this paper ...
متن کاملOrigin of the Half-Wavelength Errors in Microwave Measurements Using Through-Line Calibrations
The through–line calibration family uses measurements of a through connection and an inserted line to determine the propagation constant of the line. This is typically used with measurements of a reflect standard to characterize fixturing errors. Subsequently, the S-parameters of a device under test are de-embedded. Measurement uncertainties occur at frequencies where the length of the line sta...
متن کاملA Framework for Calibrating NLOS Error To Support LBS in Urban Environments
This paper proposes a new wireless-signal map-matching method for calibrating non-line-of-sight error in urban environments. As compared with the conventional map-matching methods that utilize a continuously-tracked sigle user trajectory, the proposed map-matching method utilizes bulks of different user locations for comparison with ideal map information. By appying the proposed method to the s...
متن کاملA calibration method for fully polarimetric microwave radiometers
A technique for absolute end-to-end calibration of a fully polarimetric microwave radiometer is presented. The technique is based on the tripolarimetric calibration technique of Gasiewski and Kunkee, but is extended to provide a means of calibrating all four Stokes parameters. The extension is facilitated using a biaxial phase-retarding microwave plate to provide a precisely known fourth Stokes...
